Temporary Hiatus and Opinions Needed!

Well, I have been on hiatus for a few days. Things around here have been pretty busy with the kids. I am hoping that this week I can find some "mommy time" because momma needs it! I have neglected my blog, which I swore I wasnt going to do, shame on me! But, I have made a comittment to blog once a day starting today. Lets hope that I can achive that!

On another note, I did manage to get "some" baking done this weekend. Yes, I love baking and cooking, those are my 2 most favorite hobbies. I have a baking blog, but I dont have it up and running be on the lookout for that. My sweet husband thinks I need to go into business for myself, and I am certainly thinking about it! I have most of the licenses that I need, just need to find a place (that is reasonable and affordable) to set up shop! My passion is baking for friends and family but he insists that I should do it full-time and make some extra money doing it. He said there is nothing wrong with making a little extra money doing something you love. So my question to you is...How many of you have a hobbie that you use to make a little extra money? All input and ideas welcome! I would love to hear ideas from others! So, post away!

Much Love,

Oh Dear Alice....

Who is Alice you ask? Well it's this great new website that I found a couple days ago, and I must say that I am sold! You can basically do all your household shopping right from your home and they ship it to you, FOR FREE!! Now, I think that is totally awesome! Heres some wonderful information about
Why dont you go on over and check it out, and get yourself an account and try it out! I know I will be!

Alice is here to help:

Let’s face it; you can probably think of a thousand things you’d rather do than drive to the store again and again for toilet paper, toothpaste, trash bags and the dozens of other home essentials that keep your home running. We can too. That’s why we started Alice.

The Internet has changed the way we shop for things like books, clothing, shoes and electronics. We buy online for the convenience and the power we have to get product reviews, choose brands, see price comparisons, and make better choices.

But when it comes to home essentials, we still trudge off to the store, load up the cart, and haul a trunk-load of stuff out the parking lot. Why? Because no one has come up with an efficient, cost-effective way to buy these goods online. Until now.

Scratch Household Shopping off the To-Do-List

Alice provides you a better way to manage all of your household essentials online. You tell Alice what you buy—choosing from great deals on 1000’s of products—and Alice goes to work. We organize all of your products, find coupons and deals for you, remind you when you might be running low, and help you order just the items you need so you can avoid that trip to the corner drugstore or the big-box store. And all this convenience comes direct to your door with free shipping included.

Get Big Box Savings & Free Shipping

Best of all, you won’t over pay for the power and convenience of Alice. In addition to free shipping on every order, you’ll find great prices too. That’s because Alice isn't your average retailer. You order from Alice just like you would a retailer, but behind the scenes we work like a marketplace, allowing participating manufacturers to sell directly to you. Not every product on our site is sold direct from the manufacturer right now—we sourced a number of products ourselves to get the site up and running—but we add new manufacturers each week onto our direct platform. This direct platform eliminates the retail middleman and saves lots of costs that can be passed directly on to you. And in addition to saving you money, the Alice marketplace allows participating brands to have a direct relationship with you—to reward you, personalize things for you, and work smarter for you. It is a win-win that gives you fantastic convenience AND tangible savings.

Alice Isn’t a Person, She is a Team

Our team at Alice is made up of a talented group of people that are passionate about changing the way you shop for the goods that keep your home running. Our mission is to make your home run smarter, to give you extra time to spend on the important things in your life, and, of course, to make sure you never run out of toilet paper again.

The Alice co-founders, Brian Wiegand and Mark McGuire, have spent their careers building customer-focused companies. Their formula is simple: use the web to disrupt existing business models and shift more power to end consumers. With a strong team in place, Alice is ready to shift the power back to you one trash bag, toothpaste tube and pack of diapers at a time.

Samsung Blogging Sweepstakes: Share Your 3 Valid Tips for Getting Dinner Ready in a Flash: Win A New Samsung French Door Refrigerator!

I am a newbie to blogging, and it looks like it could be quite fun and addicting! I was thinking about what I would write about first, I have SOOO many ideas in my head and I am jotting them down on paper so I dont forget. But yesterday I joined a group called (great group by the way! check it out!) and I seen this AWESOME giveaway and thought...there is my first topic! I know, being a newbie I would have chose something subtle, but I couldnt resist this! Who wouldnt want to win such a great prize, so here goes! The topic is:

"With Our Busy Schedules, What Are Your 3 Valid Tips for Getting Dinner Ready in a Flash?”:

Here are some of the tricks that I have learned that helps my family and I get dinner on the table in a flash:

1.) We are a family of 5, 2 adults, 3 children ages 15, 13 and 10. We involve everyone in the meal preparation. Each family member is assigned to a task, whether it be fixing a side dish, making a salad or simply setting the table. When everyone works together as a team, things get on the table in a flash!

2.) Menu Planning. Creating a weekly menu saves not only money, but time when getting dinner ready on those busy evenings. Choose a day of the week to sit down together and plan your weekly menus. Making your grocery list based on items needed for that weeks menu eliminates the numerous trips to the store for forgotten ingredients and will also save you time and money. Also, you can create your meals around your families busy schedules, making the easier, less time consuming menu items on those days.

3.) The Crock-Pot. I love, love, love my crock-pot and would be totally lost without it. It has been my life-saver so many times over the years. It is so easy to just get up in the morning and toss in a few ingredients in and forget about it! Another thing I like to do is put a roast in and let cook on low overnight, then in the morning, toss in my veggies and anything else, and let it cook on low all day. At dinner time, its ready to go! Quick and easy!
